Moela Safari Lodge

Ngande Reserve, Makgadikgadi Pans

Moela Safari Lodge sits on the high bank of the Boteti River Valley, offering the best seats to the largest zebra and wildebeest migration in Southern Africa. Moela is located in 700 hectares of community land, bordering the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.

What We Love

Wildlife

During the dry season, the lodge offers six months of migratory zebra and wildebeest sightings, often without the need to leave the property. It’s not unusual to spot herds of over a hundred elephant in the valley below, no matter the season.

Experience

Activities include game drives in both the private concession and Makgadikgadi National Park, walks within the concession, and seasonal boating on the Boteti River. Guests also have the chance to track wildlife and learn from the ancient Ju/’hoansi San people.

Impact

Moela was built by the people of the Khumaga village, from the building structures down to the handmade clay bricks, individually crafted by the women from the village. The property supports a huge amount of local projects supporting community and wildlife.

About Moela Safari Lodge

Moela Safri Lodge is a success story to show how tourism can benefit communities and conservation and offer mind blowing experiences for guests. The property is an easy 2 hour road transfer from Maun and offers a fantastic contrast to the watery inlets of the Okavango Delta. We love the ethos here and the approach to community empowerment and cultural protection. Being led by guides that grew up in the area is an incredible experience for all guests. The sleep out experience in the pans is a once in a lifetime experience, we highly recommend!
