Recently returned from a 4 night safari in two locations in the Masi Mara. Jonny and Wild Paths did an excellent job planning exactly what we wanted while staying within our budget. We stayed a 2 different camps. Julia's River Camp and Instinct of the Mara. Both were perfect and offered different activities. The planning and communication was very easy and I would highly recommend Wild Paths.

My husband and I had been wanting to book a safari for many years but struggled to find a sustainable and ethically conscious provider, until we spoke with Jonny at Wild Paths, who not only created us a fantastic itinerary, including our key destinations in Tanzania but used local providers ensuring our money benefited the local communities. Jonny provided a personal service throughout the process, checking in with us at every stage. The travel itinerary all went smoothly and accommodation he recommended was a great variety of camps and lodges, all combining comfort and great hospitality whilst being at the heart of the action; it was incredible eating our breakfast whilst watching the elephants take a drink, a privilege watching a giraffe suckle her calf whilst we had an evening sundowner and awesome listening to lions roaring whilst being tucked up safely in bed! The local tour company Jonny chose for us were amazing, with high standards of safety and service as well as excellent knowledge and insight into the wildlife - we saw more animals than we were expecting including all big five but the smaller, rarer sights like the two Servals or the Jackal cubs were truly the highlight. We definitely ticked Safari off our bucket list and would go again with Wild Paths in a heartbeat , I cannot recommend them enough!

A family of 4 ( children 2 and 3 yrs old) We took a trip with Wild Paths in February to Kenya. It was magical, More than just a safari and beach we visited projects and met people who are changing lives for the better across the country. It felt great to be a part (even if just a small part) of. 30% of all profits raised from Wild Paths goes to conservation, that was a big part of why we booked with them. The trip was very well planned and faultless through out. We felt safe at all times. 100% recommend booking a trip with these guys. We will book again for sure. A glowing review from us!

Genuinely Tailor-Made
No two Wild Paths trips are the same. Every itinerary is built from scratch around you — your pace, your interests, your budget. You’ll speak directly to Jonny, not a call centre.

What We Love About Adaptive Safaris Safaris

Accessible Travel

Our adapted safaris and trips are created for wheelchair users and guests with mobility impairments. We create safaris that are equal to (if not better!) than the experience a non-disabled person will have.

Wild Experiences

You will have a wild experience full of possibilities: Camping in the wilderness, helicopter flights over Victoria falls, sunset boat trips, gorge swings and watching elephants from the swimming pool are all options.

Tailormade Travel

Every trip to Africa we create is tailormade. We ask questions (lots!), we listen and then we design something incredible using our expertise and your dreams and requirements. We work with local partners dedicated to making safaris accessible.

Adaptive Safaris FAQs

Have a read through our FAQs and please get in touch for more information.

How do you plan a trip to suit my requirements?

All of our trips are completely bespoke. We start with a conversation, either on video, call or email (whatever you prefer); we ask gentle but direct questions so that we can understand your requirements, needs and dreams. Our local knowledge, years of experience and relationships with our partners in destination, means we know the best safari camps, hotels and local guides that are making safaris accessible.

Can I bring family with me that don’t have a mobility impairment?

Yes! Our trips are for everyone, on the same safari we can have guests with and without mobility impairments. Our aim is for the experience on safari to be as similar as possible whatever your mobility situation.

Will I need to be accompanied on the safari?

Some tour operators expect wheelchair users to be accompanied, that’s not how we work or how our safaris are planned. Solo travellers that are wheelchair users or have other mobility requirements are very welcome.

Can I bring my own wheelchair?

The short answer is yes. However, this does form part of our conversation as some heavier powerchairs exceed weight restrictions on certain airlines. These questions form part of our initial enquiry and conversations.

How do you know the camps we stay at will cater for my needs?

For our adaptive safaris we only work with safari camps, hotels and vehicles that either we or our local adaptive travel specialist partners have personally visited and checked out. This doesn’t mean just checking on the website of the hotel, this is a proper investigation and research visit.

Will I have to be lifted or carried at any point?

This depends on the itinerary we create for you and always factors into the planning stage. If you are willing to be lifted then are often more opportunities to experience different activities. We can also create safaris where you can be completely independent if that is what you would like.

Will my wheelchair fit in the tents?

Our adapted tents have been designed for wheelchair users, with enlarged entrances and space to navigate around the tents. During our initial conversations we will ask you for the size of your wheelchair to ensure we can accommodate in all aspects of your travel.

What about bathroom stops on safari?

For wheelchair users bathroom stops will be factored in to the plan. It does depend on our location and whether the guest can transfer manually. These are questions which will be answered before you book your trip so you are completely aware of the requirements of the trip.
