About Wild Paths

Our purpose is clear – to create exceptional experiences for our clients and support and raise funds for conservation and communities. We choose local partners and safari camps based on their positive impact and ethos.

What About Us?

Why Wild Paths?

We will create a trip designed specifically for you; connecting you to people and places that will deliver experiences beyond your bucket list. 30 % of our profits go back into projects that support conservation and communities in the countries that you travel to. From enquiry to your return home we are here to guide you on your wild paths adventure.

Why Africa?

Africa is vast, mighty, and incredibly diverse. Each of its 54 countries offers contrasting and unique experiences, people to meet, and breathtaking vistas.  There’s a common misconception that Africa is just one big country. Our role is to challenge that, showcasing the distinct character of each country, and of each region and its people within specific borders.

How do we work?

We ask questions, we listen, and we use our knowledge and love of Africa to suggest a meaningful adventure for you. No matter how ‘easy’ your trip may seem, we’ll make it an adventure you’ll remember. Our planning service is free; you don’t pay until you’re ready to book. We calculate the carbon footprint for every trip and display that alongside the price.

Meet Jonny

Wild Paths was founded by me, Jonny May, a passionate Africa specialist with a deep-rooted desire to transform the travel industry. I firmly believe that travel has the power to change lives, support conservation, create meaningful employment, and shift perspectives. For the past 15 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel extensively across Africa. I’ve driven from Cape Town to Cairo, traversed the Sahara while leading camping safaris, and stayed in everything from community huts to the most exclusive private houses on the continent.

Our Philanthropy

We want our world to be wilder. We seek greater biodiversity, and we want local communities to benefit from a more diverse and thriving environment. We support charities, foundations, and grassroots projects that align with this vision. For every trip we sell, we donate around 30% of our profit. This donation is split between local projects in the destination where the trip takes place and Carbon Tanzania – our partner for climate action.

Let’s talk about Carbon

We calculate the carbon cost of every itinerary we create, as well as our own Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions. We do this for two key reasons:

  • To take responsibility for the carbon that we produce. We support Carbon Tanzania and contribute  a portion of our 30% profit donation to their projects. This goes towards protecting  forests for climate, communities and wildlife. Our longer term  goal is to support similar projects in each destination we travel to.
  • We want to bring carbon into the decision making process of booking a holiday.

How are Wild Paths’ safaris different?

We carefully select our local partners and the properties we support based on their ability to offer incredible experiences and their commitment to people, the planet, and wildlife. We’ve worked with many of them for years. We know that the teams on the ground that care most about their environment are the ones offering the best safaris. Our rival safari companies mainly select partners based on levels of luxury, back handers or where they worked on their gap year!
