Kenya Classic Accessible Safari

Your guide meets you on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a private accessible transfer to Tamarind Tree Hotel, set within the Carnivore grounds close to Wilson Airport. The hotel holds four dedicated accessibility rooms, each with a level, step-free floor and a roll-in wet room fitted with a shower chair. Rest comes first here if the flight has been long, since the room is ready whenever you are. Dinner is available on site, close to your room, with nothing further to travel for on this first evening.

Today you can choose how busy you’d like to be. You can visit the Giraffe Centre and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to see the orphaned elephants settle in for the evening feed. Lunch is planned at the Karen Blixen Museum, a colonial-era house.  Every stop today runs from the vehicle, with short, level walkways where needed. We can also game drive in Nairobi National Park – we can organise the specific schedule with you.  Second night back at Tamarind Tree Hotel.

A morning transfer in the adapted vehicle to Lake Nakuru National Park, roughly two and a half hours from Nairobi on tarmac and all-weather road, guide and companions travelling together throughout the journey. A game drive follows on arrival, or along the way if timing allows, past acacia woodland and the first views of the lake itself. Check in to Sopa Lodge Nakuru in the afternoon, your accessible room ready on the ground floor, level access from the car park all the way through to the door. Settle in before dinner, with the escarpment view waiting for tomorrow’s soft light.

A full day of game viewing inside the park, entirely from the vehicle: the rhino sanctuary first, where black and white rhino graze close to the road, then flamingos massed along the lake shore, then lion working the woodland edge as the afternoon light softens toward evening. No walking is required for any part of it, and no rough ground between the stops or sightings today. Return to Sopa Lodge Nakuru for lunch and a rest if you want one, then back out for the golden hour before dinner and a second quiet night on the escarpment above the park.

The drive to the Masai Mara runs most of the morning, roughly five hours with a comfort stop along the way, game viewing possible as the landscape opens out toward the reserve and the crowds thin out behind you. Check in to Ashnil Mara Camp on arrival, your accessible tent ready on the riverbank, wheelchair-friendly pathways linking it to the dining deck and the waiting vehicle. Rest over lunch if the drive has been a long one, then head straight out for an afternoon game drive as the low light turns gold over the river and the plains beyond camp.

Morning and afternoon game drives through beautiful countryside, working the river crossing points where the migration herds cross when the timing is right, and the open plains where lion and cheetah hunt in the long grass. Your guide reads your energy alongside the wildlife: one long drive, or two shorter ones with a proper rest at camp in between. Every sighting comes from your seat in the vehicle, ramp and transfer assistance ready at each and every stop along the way. Dinner back at Ashnil Mara Camp, the river running past the deck as night falls over the Mara.

A full day of game drives across the reserve, tracking whatever the plains offer today. Hyenas work the long grass at first light, low and purposeful, often moving ahead of the vehicle before you even spot them. Your guide reads fresh tracks and radio chatter to search out leopard along the river-line trees, patient work that pays off more often than not. Elephant herds move across open ground in their dozens, matriarchs leading calves toward water, unhurried and unbothered by the vehicle nearby. Every sighting comes from your seat, ramp and transfer assistance ready at each and every stop today.

A final morning game drive while the light is still soft, one last chance at whatever the Mara has been holding back all week for you to see. Afterwards, the transfer back to Nairobi in the adapted vehicle, roughly five hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Your guide sees you all the way through to the airport for your homeward departure flight, wheelchair and luggage handled throughout by the same trusted team.
