Cardamom House

Vipingo, Kenya coast

This beautiful boutique hotel is the perfect location for the ocean part of a Kenya safari and beach holiday. Set among a garden with a kaleidoscope of colorful flowers, Cardamom House is a paradise for mindfulness and seclusion.

A large luxury villa with a pool surrounded by trees.

What We Love

Wildlife

The property is located on the Kuruwitu Marine Conservancy, which can be explored on a snorkelling safari with local conservationists to learn more about coral restoration. Dolphin and whale watching trips can also be organised.

Experience

Included activities are SUPs, canoes, and snorkeling; there is also a yoga teacher, masseuse, and tae kwon do instructor who comes to the property every day. There is also a PGA golf course in Vipingo.

Impact

One of the only beach properties we have found that includes a conservation fee to donate funds to the marine conservancy and local projects in surrounding villages, where most of the staff are from.

About Cardamom House

Cardamom House has 10 rooms set across 3 separate houses on the property. The team loves to surprise guests with meal setups in different places each night, including the boma area, the chef’s table, and under the stars on the beach. The food is a real highlight, created by the all-female team of chefs focusing on fresh seafood from local fishing communities. The property has been designed by an architect from Lamu to create a signature Swahili style. The decor features interesting art and repurposed furniture from a dhow found washed up on Lamu.
