Itinerary
Arrive in Kenya
Your journey begins in Nairobi, where you’ll arrive and settle into a boutique hotel. After your flight, you’ll have time to rest and adjust to your surroundings. Depending on your arrival time, you might choose to visit the Giraffe Centre or the Karen Blixen Museum, offering an introduction to Kenya’s wildlife and history. In the evening, discover Nairobi’s diverse food scene, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients and unique flavours. This day is designed to help you ease into your Kenyan adventure and prepare for the exciting safari ahead.

Fly to Loisaba to start your safari
This morning you’ll leave Nairobi and fly up to Northern Kenya to the Loisaba Conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau. This is a wild and beautiful land, full of emerging conservation stories and local cultures that are finally starting to benefit from travellers visiting their ancestral home. You’re staying in a luxury camp located on the brow of a hill. From your room you can see for miles; it looks at first to be rugged, but as soon you head out with your guide, who was born on this land, your eyes are opened to the rich diversity found here.

Game drives on Loisaba
A typical day on safari starts with an early morning game drive, during these cooler hours, as the sun rises, lion and other predators are most active and can sometimes be found hunting. As well as lion you’ll expect to see herds of elephant, towers of giraffe, bathing hippos and recently reintroduced black rhino. Most days you’ll return to camp for a break during the heat of the day and then head back out on safari in the afternoon as the temperature wanes. As you’re in a conservancy night drives are also allowed so you can return to camp with the flashlight looking for nocturnal species.

Exploring the conservancy
There are many wonderful reasons to visit Loisaba – it’s recent conservation success with black rhino, community projects, rich wildlife and wonderful staff. However, one of the biggest factors is the diversity of experiences and ways to explore the conservancy. You can take game drives, walking safaris, camel rides and horseback safaris, as well visit the anti-poaching team. There aren’t many safari areas where you take a walking safari and don’t see another soul for the duration of the morning. Loisaba is built for adventure.

Fly to the Masai Mara
This morning you’ll leave the mountainous north of Kenya and fly south-west to the rolling hills of the Masai Mara. You are located in a quiet section of national reserve, on the banks of the sand river. This part of the Mara is only accessed by other guests staying in the vicinity, so you don’t see the crowds of vehicles often associated with the reserve. You’ll be met at the airstrip by your guide and driven slowly back to camp, looking out for the many lion found here.

On Safari in the Masai Mara
Safaris in the Mara are generally enjoyed in your 4×4 game-viewing vehicle, led by your experienced guide. The area is phenomenal for big cats, with sightings of cheetah and leopard some of the best in East Africa. This is also lion country, with some mega prides on the lookout for herds of buffalo and the many zebra and wildebeest that pass through the area with the Great Migration. Your time in the Mara will spent on morning and afternoon game drives.

Relaxing on Kenya’s Coast
End your Kenya safari and beach adventure at Cardamom House, a luxurious 10-room Swahili-inspired retreat located within the Kiriwitu Marine Conservancy. This isn’t just a relaxing beach escape—it’s a meaningful experience that supports marine conservation, making it perfect for travellers seeking responsible luxury. Lounge on pristine, secluded beaches, paddleboard out to the reef, enjoy chef-curated dining experiences, or simply relax by the pool. For a deeper connection to the ocean, join “Oceans Alive,” a local organisation, on a guided snorkel safari and discover their vital reef restoration work. The property’s elegant design incorporates traditional Lamu elements, including intricately carved wooden doors and furniture repurposed from a historic dhow, creating a unique blend of culture and comfort.
